The Artist:
As a child growing up in Williamsville, NY, I was always drawing - especially horses. I was influenced in art because of my mom and she always encouraged me to draw and paint. I have studied art on my own and in school and I have degrees in Graphic Design and Industrial Design.
With over 10 years of being a set painter/scenic artist in Los
Angeles, California, I realize this has greatly influenced my paintings. Set painting
involves knowing how to make something look like marble, concrete, stone, metal and making things
look old, rusty and just plain aged.

I have been painting abstract paintings (with texture) and I'm officially back to painting with soft pastels and charcoal. As most pastelists will say - it's the "immediacy" of the medium that they love - and this is very true. There is also a "glow" achieved with pastels that I am very fond of!
My knowledge of materials, tools and techniques have definitely
contributed to my artwork. Textures greatly inspire me. Tree bark, paint swirling around in a container,
a rusty fence - I find that very beautiful.
